Unless you have lived a perfect life, you will have a moment that lingers with regret in your soul and if you could go back to that point in time, you might do something differently. Yet, that small decision, that one small intersection of life, has consequences that reverberate and ripple across time and across the lives of others.

Kiahna Siefert, a beautiful flight attendant, had such a moment, yet, out of that anguish, she was blessed with the love that she received from her seven-year-old son, Max. She might lack for money for extras and she shared the worries that all single working moms have, yet, she was happy with the blessings in her life and she gave that message of love and forgiveness to her son. No greater joy could be found then when the two of them would sing their special song together each time before Kiahna would leave for her next layover assignment to Japan before returning to her beloved Hawaii.

As a single parent with no family, Kiahna's greatest concern involved over who would care for her son, if anything should happen to her. So, each year, she prayed and carefully updated her plan. When Max asked his mom about her getting a husband and a dad for him, she told Max that she didn't think that was in God's plan for them, however, her hope was that his father would know and care.

Meanwhile, Connor Evans, an airpilot based in Florida, was enjoying how well his life had fallen into place. He had two lively daughters and he enjoyed a very deep bond of love and trust with his wife, Michele. His only nagging concern was if she ever found out about his small indiscretion eight years past. So, when he checked on the list of people lost in a recent airline crash, he breathed a sign of relief when he saw Kiahna's name. Now, she couldn't come back to break up his marriage and Michele would never know. But, when he got a call from a lawyer in Hawaii, his whole world changed as he got the best and the worst of news.

Karen Kingsbury has brilliantly crafted an amazing romance story of hope and disillusionment with themes of forgiveness and second chances that are as unobtrusively enfolded in the story as the nesting of butterflies in the Hawaiian trees. This is absolutely a "must read, must share" book that I can guarantee you will have trouble putting down! Kingsbury has a real gift of bringing you right into the heads of each of her characters as they grapple with their secret fears, their plans and their need for love. My heart was so touched by the ailing babysitter, Ramey, as she painstaking sought the right words for her letters and for Max that I just wanted to reach right into the pages of the book to give him a hug and ease his disappointment when Connor couldn't give what he needed most.

Can you believe this? Prior to reviewing this book, I had not discovered Karen Kingsbury as a writer! I know, I know! How could I have missed this award winning inspirational writer as so many of her books have been made into films? What can I say? Too little time, too many other books to read, but now that I have discovered this incredibly gifted writer, I definitely will be seeking out and enjoying her other books. Given that, I know that her previous fans will be thrilled with this one and new readers of her works will be in for a treat! Enjoy!
