Carmela, owner of Memory Mine Scrapbook shop, and her best friend, Ava Gruiex, owner of Juju Voodoo, have been commissioned for a huge project. Their friend, Melody Mayfeldt, is converting an old mansion, Medusa Manor, into an unforgettable haunted house for those who flock to New Orleans for a creepy fix. Melody has recruited Carmela and Ava to supply the decorative and crafty touches necessary to make the spooky old house come to life in time for an upcoming horror convention. But the house haunting becomes a bit too serious - especially when upon their arrival to the mansion, Melody's flaming body comes crashing through a tower window and landing literally at Carmela and Ava's feet. Someone specifically wanted Carmela's client very dead, and much to the chagrin of her boyfriend, Detective Edgar Babcock, Carmela is going to do her best to find out who it is. Could the suspect be Melody's husband Garth, who has a penchant for funeral jewelry? Or could it be her silent partner Olivia Wainwright? It's up to Carmela to put together the clues that will help solve the mystery of her friend's murder.
In TRAGIC MAGIC, the sixth installment of the Scrapbooking Mystery series, author Laura Childs once again lays out a story full of intrigue and a bit of spicy New Orleans fun. Readers can always be assured of finding a tale of adventure and suspense, as well as delicious recipes and crafty scrapbooking tips in one of Child's delightful cozy mysteries. Laura Childs is one of my absolute favorite authors, and it is always with a great deal of joy that I recommend one of her books.
