What happens when the perfect life you thought you had turns upside down? Many of us hope to never have to fret over that, but for Adrianna Barrington Thornton it's the story of her life. When she married Craig Thornton she thought they would be happy forever, and raise a loving family. However, fate intervened and tragedy struck leaving Craig a hapless invalid, until his eventual death and Adrianna drowning in debt.
In an effort to pay off the debt Adrianna sells the Thornton home she inherited from Craig, but the sale is contingent on her moving the Thornton family cemetery. For very personal reasons Adrianna has asked the grave moving company to check for any suspicious graves. What they find is not what Adrianna was hoping or expecting to find, and puts a possible crimp in her plans to sell the home.
There are bodies that don't belong to the Thornton family in the cemetery. The questions now become who were they, who buried them there, and was the person who buried them the person responsible for their death, and finally is there a tie at all to any of the Thornton family or Adrianna.
It falls to Detective Gage Hudson to solve the crime. Can he be impartial because of his past relationship with Adrianna, or will the two again become involved? This is part of the meat of DYING SCREAM.
To be honest I have to say there was a scene or two that I found reminiscent of other stories, but overall DYING SCREAM was fresh, and intriguing. The gore/gruesome level was just right for keeping me interested, but not for giving nightmares. When the last page was turned I was completely satisfied, and ready to run.
