Fast forward eight years. Beth is suddenly in a position to need to help her family out. Her father has had a terrible accident which has forced him to take time off from his business, and her sister has just gotten into university. Beth submits her résumé to a firm in London that organizes travel adventures, and - surprise! - the job reports to none other than Jack!
Because of the necessity of her familial situation, she begrudgingly accepts the job, but only upon the condition that Jack treats her as any other employee and that he put aside their history. He readily agrees to the condition, but they find that neither of them are particularly good at forgetting the past. However, Beth and Jack manage things just fine (Beth has a boyfriend and Jack is seeing a woman) until they end up scouting a new potential travel package together... in Corsica.
This book was a fun, flirty, fast read. The ending was a bit predictable, but it also ended as it should have, so I can't complain too much. The characters were well-developed, even Beth's boyfriend Marcus, who is as shallow as they come. The relationship between Beth and her assistant Freya is fun to watch develop, and the bond between Beth and her sister is the type that children long for.
Overall, this was a great book, and would make the perfect beach read, in only the best sense of the term, as most of the book focuses on vacation getaways. As one reads this on the beach, one could imagine other vacations in other far off places.
