Naomi is Amish, working at the "Stitches in Time" quilt shop with her grandmother and cousins in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Quilting is her passion and her faith as well since joining the church. Engaged to an Amish man, John, Naomi is becoming more and more hesitant that this is the right thing for her when he is continually becoming abusive and controlling. When the opportunity comes to accompany her grandmother to a trip to Florida for recovery following an ankle injury, she becomes determined to re-evaluate the engagement and break it off upon returning home. During the adventure Naomi finds she is drawn by the kind man delegated as their driver.

The gentle and kind Nick Talbott takes time off to escort them to Pinecraft, Florida. Naomi and Nick begin to have feelings that neither expect. This is unacceptable, especially since he is an "Englischer" which makes their relationship impossible. Nick keeps his distance out of respect but the surprise small kiss is deeply embedded in both their minds. Returning home Naomi breaks her engagement and puts her faith in God to help her. Marrying someone of a different culture is foreign to Naomi and seemingly an impossible feat. Now is the time for Nick to re-evaluate his love for Naomi and exactly what he is willing to change to claim her for life.

THE HEART'S JOURNEY is the second book in the Stitches in Time series. The story is the journey of a young woman who desperately dreams of love but is initially faced with accepting less. There is much to learn of the Amish faith and way of life throughout this story. The soft and gentle way of life of the Amish is truly commendable but wrought with its own sorrows and battles. I definitely plan to be among the first to read the next book in this series.
