Rosemary hadn't really wanted to come to the wedding of Zanna Lambright and Jonny Ropp, but Titus Yutzy felt as she was only 23, it was time for her to start mixing with folks again and since they lived further away in Queen City, he wanted to use this trip as a chance to talk to Matt Lambright about improving their respective sheep flocks. Kind-hearted and practical, Rosemary has moved in to care for her father-in-law and his twelve year old daughter, Beth Ann.
As the handsome Matt took a break from the wedding and chatted with his long-time friend, James Graber, he spots a cute little girl with blonde pigtails toddling as fast as her little feet would take her towards his two dogs. As he looks up, he sees a lovely young widow dressed all in black calling to her daughter Katie. With her melodic laugh and love for her daughter shining in her face, Matt's heart did a complete flip and it is instant love at first sight. Now 22, Matt is ready to settle down, but is not interested in the girls he grew up with in Cedar Creek as they are too much like sisters to him. Could Rosemary be the one for him?
Now at terms with himself after being jilted on his wedding day by Zanna, James, the carriage maker, finds himself paired with Abby Lambright to eat with for the wedding feast and they had a surprisingly good time together.
Abby has long been interested in James, but is now reasonably content with being a maidel. As James starts to notice her with fresh eyes, will he move forward with her in a stronger relationship or will it be "Once bitten, twice shy"?
As intricate and as beautifully stitched as an Amish Friendship Star quilt, the very talented Naomi King instantly pulls you into the lives and loves in this small Amish community. ROSEMARY OPENS HER HEART is the second book in the Home at Cedar Creek series and it picks up on the happenings in the community right after where the first book, ABBY FINDS HER CALLING, ends. King has an amazing talent for developing realistic characters that have to grapple with life issues and though faith, find workable solutions for themselves and others. I found this story of two different romances so engaging that I almost felt myself as being part of this story and knowing the characters as friends.
While ROSEMARY OPENS HER HEART can be thoroughly enjoyable as a standalone story, Amish romance fans will find this a wonderful follow-up to King's first book. It is as delicious as the food described in the author's books. This double love story is a treat you will not want to miss!
Book Summary
Another spring reminds the Amish of Cedar Creek, Missouri, that for everything there is a season.
Zanna Lambright is finally marrying Jonny Ropp, and friends and family have come from far and wide to celebrate. Among them is young widow Rosemary Yutzy, mother of toddler Katie, whose husband was tragically killed last fall. With a willing heart Rosemary has taken over care of her in-law’s family and continued to run a baked goods business from home, but privately she still mourns her lost Joe...and is unprepared for the changes that are coming...
Rosemary’s father-in-law wants to merge his lamb-raising business with Matt Lambright’s—a move that will require the Yutzys to relocate from their nearby town to Cedar Creek. Moreover, it will bring Rosemary into constant contact with Matt, who is making no secret of his romantic interest in her. The challenges of contemplating a future unlike any she expected are overwhelming for Rosemary. And although Matt is strong and kind, his courtship is so persistent, she often wants to run the other way. As Rosemary struggles to see beyond her immediate joys and sorrows, will she embrace the outpouring of welcome and support from the people of Cedar Creek...and accept this new chance to open her heart to a more abundant life?
