After an explosive bout of violent fighting between them Dragos has had enough. He banishes them from New York and sends them on a mission together. Dragos wants to make sure there is no looting going on at Numenlaur, the place where not long ago a High Lord had managed to enthrall Elven people and force them to attack their own kind in his desire for power, emptying out the whole town. He just wants them out of his hair for awhile and hopes they clear up whatever it is that is eating at them or they are both out.
Ayral and Quentin actually go on the mission with the same plan, only one of them is going to come back, a terrible accident will happen to the other. They find there is unexpected danger in this recon mission, and not only are their lives in danger but the Elves who were sent to guard the passage to Numenlaur have disappeared too. The danger they face must be dealt with together. As they work to survive a stranger truth hits them ... there is no possible way they could be mates. The gods wouldn't do that to them, would they?
KINKED is the continuation of author Thea Harrison's compelling and intriguing Elder Races series. This one is filled with nonstop action, amazing magical beings and a lot of steamy sex between two beings that have to learn to depend on each other if they are to survive. Ayral starts out determined that Quentin is a criminal and Quentin is sick of being her target and having her spy on him. I enjoyed the witty repartee between this mismatched but perfect for each other couple, as they traveled to the Elven land. Then as they grew closer and learned to relax with each other they were actually very funny. There was a special tenderness that Quentin showed when it was possible that Ayral's damaged wings would not allow her to fly again, even if he did push her off the rooftop. That is a scene you will understand when you read KINKED. I have been thrilled at all of the Elder Races books and look forward to many more by Ms. Harrison.
