Skye & Shade Cross are brother & sister twins with a special physic connection, being able to speak telepathically with each other, they are also able to speak with animals. Skye Cross owns a local pet store, but has always been involved with rescuing animals. Her latest rescue mission is an animal fighting ring where the animals aren't the normal ones that one would expect.

Shade Cross is a homicide detective investigating a few murders that are tied to the animal fights, when he is killed. Now his ghost is stuck here with some unfinished business. The only person who can see him or help him is Skye. As Skye begins her own investigation in to her brother's murder, she learns that the animals are really shapeshifters.

Luc Lazare has always walked between the worlds of his Kindred father and human mother. When Shade Cross is killed on his mother's door step, Luc now feels responsible to protect Shade's sister.

Skye and Luc must now work together to try to learn who is behind the shifter fights and just how deep Shade was involved. They also try to deny the attraction they both feel towards each other.

ANIMAL INSTINCTS starts off a bit slow since there is some back story to get through, but after that, I could not put it down! The characters and storyline is strong and entertaining. There is just enough action, suspense, and love scenes. The back and forth conversations between Skye and Luc are comical.

Book Summary
