Years ago, Sam met Nick at a party that she really didn't want to attend, but she promised her sister Angela that she would go with her. The minute Sam and Nick meet, the attraction is there. They spend the night together, with Nick promising that he will call her as soon as he returns from a business trip.

Now, Sam is called to a homicide of a state senator. Sam never thought she would encounter Nick at the crime scene. The senator is Nick's best friend. The shock is on both of their faces. The attraction is still there for both of them. Nick tried to explain what happened six years ago, and at first Sam wants nothing to do with his explanation.

Sam's main goal is to find out who would murder the senator and why. Sam also explains to Nick why this is not a good time for them to resume their relationship. After all, she is the lead detective and he is a prime witness.

Wow is all I can say on the writing of Marie Force. I really love FATAL AFFAIR. The one problem is I finished it way to quickly. I feel her writing is right there with Debra Webb and Tiffany Snow. Marie Force shows how women can have important jobs and handle personal and business matters. I can't wait to read the third one in this series. I just finished the second.
