One of Megan's first problems with Willow Ridge is her neighbor from across the street, Rachel, seems to be getting a little too close to her husband. Tyler keeps telling her that there is nothing going on, but Megan feels that she must confront Rachel. Second, Megan can't even go to the neighboring town without getting dirty looks when people know where is coming from. What is the problem with Willow Ridge?
On the day Megan decides to confront Rachel, things take a dark turn when Rachel falls and hits her head. Megan makes a mistake by leaving without checking on Rachel. Eventually, she notices Rachel's husband loading a bag into the trunk of his car... Is Rachel dead? Megan believes so, until she sees Rachel a few days later, as good as new.
Megan tries telling Tyler that something strange is going on in Willow Ridge, but he feels she is just overreacting to convince him to move back to Chicago. What is really going on behind closed doors? Will Megan become the next victim?
I was pretty impressed with John Rector's writing. I can't even imagine
what it would be like to move to a small town and find out that it is not
what you thought. What a great imagination Ridge has; he puts you
right in the center of this town. I felt the pain and confusion that Megan
was going through. I also liked that I couldn't figure out what was going
on. Ridge's descriptions of the town and the people are kind of on the
weird side. Would people really do such drastic things just for the sake
of their town? Read
