KILLER GREEN TOMATOES is the second in the series which began with WHO MOVED MY GOAT CHEESE?, which saw Felicia and Angie move back to town as co-owners of a new enterprise. While they are up and running, they are still learning, still training in staff, and finding suppliers. A young woman is killed and their employee Estebe's cousin, Javier Easterly, is taken in for questioning. Estebe asks Angie to help, but her young St Bernard dog, Dom, doesn't take to Javier. Angie has her hands full at home as well, because she rashly volunteered to look after Mrs Potter, a neighbour's grandmother, for a week. She's not used to caring for seniors, much less those who might wander or fall. Oh, and her boyfriend calls by to check if she's really exclusive to him, she having been seen getting out of another man's car. Such gossips.

Yes, this is a complicated tale, with lots of people coming and going, a constant struggle to get food on the table and trips across town to investigate alibis or deliver someone to church. Being an amateur sleuth is not an easy life. Angie barely has time to draw breath, and other folks' concerns are added to hers. On the other hand, the good thing about other people is that they rally around when you need them. The community is not wholly keen on two independent young women setting up in business, but from the looks of it, the restaurant will be serving for some time to come.

Lynn Cahoon has also authored popular mystery series set in California if you fancy a change of scene. KILLER GREEN TOMATOES is an enjoyable read which progresses the character arcs at the same time as challenging readers to solve the crime.
