The lousy relationship Maisy has had with her father, and his womanizing ways, have greatly influenced the way Maisy views men and relationships; specifically her policy of not getting involved with musicians like her father. When she runs into Ryan De Luna after one of his concerts, sparks fly with unexpected results. The physical attraction between the two is obvious to everyone around them, but Maisy is quick to dismiss Ryan. This rocky beginning makes any romantic involvement between them unlikely, but Ryan keeps surprising Maisy with his thoughtfulness, generosity, and natural charm. This story is told strictly from Maisy's perspective, so the reader, like Maisy, is left to guess at Ryan's feelings and motivations. In setting the story up that way I think that Sariah Wilson, whether intentionally or unintentionally, makes Maisy more sympathetic to readers and gets them on her side.
In addition to the newness and excitement of a budding attraction, #Moonstruck does a wonderful job of detailing the pitfalls that come with the celebrity lifestyle. Ryan is constantly faced with people who are out to use him or manipulate him in some way. A big part of what Ryan finds attractive about Maisy is how genuine she seems, and her integrity. As Maisy and Ryan go back and forth while trying to decide whether or not to try and make a real relationship between the work, emotions fluctuate between glorious and utter despair. Maisy's brothers help lighten the mood and release the tension. The secondary romance between Maisy's friend Angie and Ryan's bodyguard Fox is entertaining.
#Moonstruck is a deeply romantic and dazzling love story. This heroine has to undergo some personal growth and work through her emotional baggage in order to get the man she wants and accept love. This is a great character-driven story for romance fans to devour. I look forward to reading Sariah Wilson's next #Lovestruck book.
Book Summary
Over one million “likes”—but only one of them matters.
After pop star Ryan De Luna praises Maisy Harrison’s YouTube cover of his classic hit, he offers Maisy and her fledgling band the opportunity of a lifetime: to be his opening act.
Music may be Maisy’s life, but she has one ground rule: never date a musician. That goes double for a heartbreaker like Ryan. If only she didn’t feel so vulnerable to his larger-than-life charm. And maybe now more than ever, when he asks for her help to shake off his playboy image. How can she resist playing the part of his fake girlfriend for the duration of the tour?
Ryan’s never met anyone like Maisy. She sees past all the star-studded fame and treats him like any other guy. And the more time they spend together, the more he finds himself falling for her. Now he’d like to make their imaginary fling an IRL thing. But can he convince her to take a chance and trust him with her heart?
