Lindsey witnesses a hit-and-run from the inside of the library. She rushes out to help, almost positive that the owner of the car sped up to hit the woman. Lindsey isn't interested in investigating until the driver's linked to a stolen car with checked out library materials inside. When the police chief, Emma, comes to her looking for answers, Lindsey isn't about to hand over private information without a warrant. It's clear Emma's frustrated with the case and getting heat to solve it quickly. The situation escalates when the driver is found murdered and a second attempt is made on the woman's life. Lindsey and her sleuthing team get to work to see what they can uncover before someone succeeds at murdered Theresa.

Reminiscent of Jane Eyre, HITTING THE BOOKS, the 9th book in the Library Lover's Mystery series will leave you smiling. The characters bring this series to life, from the "crafternoon" crowd to the library staff. Beth's neverending reminiscing about her wedding might be getting on everyone's nerves in the book, but it's sweet to readers. The banter between old romantic foes Robbie and Sully add a few laughs. HITTING THE BOOKS marks a significant moment in the relationship between Sully and Lindsey. They have a few details to iron out with their new arrangement. Sully helps Lindsey investigate, which makes for a nice moment for the couple. A guide to hosting your own "crafternoon" is included with recipes, craft instructions, and a reader's guide to A Tree Grows in Brooklyn. This cozy series is the perfect blend of small-town charm, bookish people, a great library, friendship, romance, and of course -- murder.
