Duran has been imprisoned for twenty-one years and his first chance to escape involves helping Ahmare. The problem is, neither one of them know who to trust and this unwilling journey soon becomes what brings them together.

Ward has always been one of my favorite writers, but it's really when I read a new book of hers that I remember just how good of a writer she is. I love the way she describes things. It's wholly her own and she also does an excellent job of portraying emotion nicely. The conflict of this story is very much the forefront, creating tension throughout the entire story. I couldn't flip the pages quick enough and almost wished the book was longer. Nevertheless, this makes me very excited about the next full-length Black Dagger Brotherhood novel.

PRISONER OF NIGHT exceeded my expectations. There is no question about it: Ward is the queen of paranormal romance.
